Oriental Band
At the present time we have twenty-eight active members, but are always looking for a few good men to join our very active ranks. You need not know how to read music or play a musical instrument to join our group. We will teach you. The Oriental Band instruments range from tambourines and cymbals to horns, drums and gongs. We meet and practice every Wednesday night at 7:30 P.M. in the Araba band room located at the end of the corridor off the Red Fez Lounge.
We participate in Shriner ceremonials and when called upon to perform at various Araba functions. The O.B. has dozens of trophies on display in the main auditorium that we have won at many competitions. We also participate in about twenty parades a year in and about the city of Ft. Myers. All O. B. members ride on a very decorative float that won first place in the O. B. float competition last year at the Imperial Session held in Orlando.
We include our ladies in our many activities and are a strong family oriented unit. Every month with five Wednesdays we take our ladies out to dine on the fifth Wednesday. We invite several other units to those events and usually have fifty to seventy Shriners in attendance at these very enjoyable functions.
The O. B will furnish you with an instrument and a colorful uniform from our supply closet at no cost to you. Our unit dues are $12.00 a calendar year.
Visit with the O. B. any time you wish and share in the fellowship and fun we have together. Active O.B. members from other Temples are always welcome, so when you are in our area, bring your instrument and sit in with us. We'll enjoy it as much as you will.
